Taylor Meeuwsen
2024 Scholarship Winner
Taylor Meeuwsen is graduating from Century High School this year as a Valedictorian and plans to attend Oregon State University to major in Music Education. She has been playing flute for 8 years, piccolo for 6 years, and has also dabbled in clarinet, trombone, and ukulele. She is a member of the Century High School wind ensemble, marching band, pit orchestra, tech theater, and was the flute section leader.
Taylor has received 5 varsity letters in marching band and was the flute soloist in the Fall 2023 show “Labyrinth”. For the past two years, she has been selected to participate in Music in May and has had two flute duets qualify for state in the OMEA Solo and Ensemble Competition. Taylor has committed many hours of community service to her high school band program through the Century High School Outreach Music Program (CHOMP) and through being a teacher’s aide for elementary school band classes.
After college, she plans to pursue a career in teaching middle or high school band. Outside of band, Taylor enjoys learning about biotechnology and microbiology, is involved in the National Honors Society where she received graduation cords for merit and community service, and enjoys being an Outdoor School student leader.
